Facilitating Casual Users in Interacting with Linked Data through Domain Expertise
نویسندگان
چکیده
Linked Data use has expanded rapidly in recent years; however there is still a lack of support for casual users to create complex queries over this Web of Data. Until this occurs, the real benefits of having such rich metadata available will not be realised by the general public. This paper introduces an approach to supporting casual users discover relevant information across multiple Linked Data repositories, by enabling them to leverage and tailor semantic attributes. Semantic attributes are semantically meaningful terms that encapsulate expert rules encoded in multiple formats, including SPARQL. Semantic attributes are created in SABer (Semantic Attribute Builder), which is usable by non-technical domain experts. This opens the approach to almost any domain. A detailed evaluation of SABer is described within this paper, as is a case study that shows how casual users can use semantic attributes to explore multiple structured data sources in the music domain.

As a medium of structured information available on the Web, Linked Data is still hard to access for most end users. Current solutions facilitating end user access to Linked Data are either thought the use of data-mapping approaches, which allow configureable interfaces to be quickly deployed over pre-selected aggregations of Linked Data, or enable users themselves to browse the Web of Data thro...
متن کاملKnowledge Dynamics and Domain Expertise in Enterprise Information Systems Implementation: An Introductory Study
Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) have become the core information processing architecture of large businesses. This study examines the role of Knowledge Social Networks (KSN) in facilitating EIS-related knowledge acquisition accounting for the domain expertise of knowledge sources, its interplay with user task complexity, and their impact on EIS implementation. While research on KSNs has co...
متن کاملIdentification of the underlying factors affecting information seeking behavior of users interacting with the visual search option in EBSCO: a grounded theory study
Background and Aim: Information seeking is interactive behavior of searcher with information systems and this active interaction occurs in a real environment known as background or context. This study investigated the factors influencing the formation of layers of context and their impact on the interaction of the user with search option dialoge in EBSCO database. Method: Data from 28 semi-stru...
متن کاملOpen Innovation and Semantic Web : Problem Solver Search on Linked Data
The novel practice of Open Innovation on the Web has imposed new challenges to known expert search approaches. At the same time, many potential sources of evidence about users’ interest and expertise (e.g., research papers, blogs, activities) are becoming ubiquitously present as Linked Data. In this paper we present a research effort for suggesting the right way to search for potential Open Inn...
